NORWEGIAN WOOD

August is almost over and I couldn't be happier about it. Don't get me wrong, I am slightly annoyed summer is coming to an end, but the past four weeks have gone by so slowly I definitely need a new month and am very much looking forward to all the things I have planned for the upcoming three.

Not having a job means I spend most of my day at home applying for possible roles, fully knowing I will never hear back from any of them. To be quite honest, this has brought me a lot of anxiety and stress – I know I only just graduated, but my life has always been planned by yours truly and, this time around, I can't plan much and it's a really weird feeling.

Anyway, back to what I was trying to say; because August has been extreeemely slow, I have had time to read again – something I was missing and was hoping to get back into for a long time now. For anyone who doesn't know me, I am an avid reader, a bookworm I suppose. I have been reading ever since I can remember and books have always had a huge impact on my life and have been a source of happiness and comfort in times of need.
However, during the past three years, I didn't manage to read as much as I was hoping and I didn't realise how much I missed it until I picked up a book in Watersones at the end of July.

It will probably sound extremely cheesy, but it made me feel at home and it's safe to say I haven't stopped reading since. So, as my passion for books is back, I thought I'd talk about a few of my favourites and tell you exactly why I think you should give them a go (if you haven't read them already that is).

So, without further ado, this month's book is Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami.

Current Favourites & Summer Essentials

Guess who's been buzzing all day because Spain is only three days away?
Still haven't packed, of course, but I've been planning my outfits so I guess that counts?

Even though it's gonna be brief, this little mini holiday is much needed. If I have to be honest, I've had enough of this crappy English weather – and I'm sure it's got nothing to do with the fact I'm from Italy.

I wanted to share a few essentials that I'll be bringing with me to Spain, which also happen to be a few of my current favourites.

These ASOS sandals are my absolute favourite at the moment. I've always been a black sandals kind of girl, but I have to say these ones are so gorgeous I had to get them before they sold out.

Bag is Zara of course and, if you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw it in my latest post. I said it before and I'll say it again, I've never been as obsessed with a bag as I am with this one.

Those amazing sunglasses are Quay Australia and I got the last summer in Topshop. I mean, they just scream me.
Speaking of Topshop, last time I was there my lovely boyfriend got me a silver necklace with his initial written inside the heart – it hasn't left my neck ever since (in case it wasn't obvious!)

And, last but not least, one of my staple essentials for summer is a good book. If there is one thing I can't stand is laying by the sea without something to read. But let's be honest, I'll probably read the one I've got in the photo before I even get on the plane.

Have you got any summer essentials and favourites? Let me know! X

All I Know Now – Carrie Hope Fletcher (Book Review)

I'm not used to write book reviews, mostly because I don't like sharing my books. I don't quite like the idea of someone reading something so personal to me, something that I feel as close as a friend – woah, a bit too cheesy/melodramatic?!, but it's true.
I'd say that 90% of the books I read have helped me going through something, kept me company or entertained me in some other way and I always feel so attached to the characters that I never want to give them away.

But anyways, weirdness aside, today's post is going to be a book review. And the reason why I decided to write it is simple: you need this book in your life. Whether you are a teenage struggling your way through life, or you're an adult wanting to remember some of your teenage years, it doesn't matter because you'll love this book!

To be quite honest, I didn't know whether I was going to like this book or not. During the past year I've seen so many YouTubers/Vloggers brining out books that I didn't enjoy at all. Not because they're rubbish, but simply because they weren't my cup of tea. I'm not gonna go too much in detail and talk about those books because it's not why I am writing this post, but when I read that Carrie was going to publish a book I decided to give it  go.
Why? I don't really know, I guess it was both the fact that she's a bit of a bookworm like me and the fact that the book was not going to be fiction, but more of a collection of experiences, situations, mistakes and advices.

I can't really tell you what to expect without giving it away.
To me, it was a walk down memory lane, remembering some episodes from my teenage years, situations I'd forgotten and others I didn't want to remember. It was funny and entertaining, a really good read if you ask me.

If you're looking for a classic then that's not the book for you, I'm afraid. But if you like manuals (or if you're a teen in need of one – and yes, you do need one!) and you like a light read then do yourself a favour and buy this book. You'll laugh a lot and, if you're even a bit like me, you'll enjoy all those Disney and Harry Potter references.
From love to bullies, from firsts to friends, this book talks you through what teens (and everyone else too!) struggle the most showing you that you are not alone and that everybody else is feeling exactly the way you do.

Personally I read it in less than a day and really enjoyed it, both the content of it and the way Carrie wrote it – almost feels like you're watching one of her videos and chatting to a friend at the same time. So yes, this book might not be everyone's cup of tea but it surely gets a big thumbs up from me.
