I want to talk about appearances.
We live in a world where, most of the time, people meet each other on the internet. Don't get me wrong, I think it's amazing meeting people from all over the world just by clicking on a web page and I personally met some incredible people throughout the years that are now my friends. However, sometimes this kind of friendship might not be as strong as we think it is and the people we thought we knew appear like strangers to us.
Now, why would I want to talk about this particular subject?
To be honest with you, I rarely open myself up to people, I don't like talking about my feelings or emotions a lot.
During the past year I've met quite a few people on the internet, we talked for a while but we never got really close therefore I never felt the need to talk to them about my life. Well, these people decided they knew me enough to start judging me, they started complaining about my personality, my thoughts. They based their opinions on appearances, thinking they knew me just by reading my Facebook status.
I am not pretending I've never judged someone based on their appearances – because I am sure I did, but I've learned that it's never a good idea.
Judging in general is never a good idea.
And I am not writing this because I want to complain about what happened to me, what I am trying to say is that we live in a society that is based on appearances, a society that defines you as 'someone' just by looking at what clothes you're wearing or what photo you post on Instagram.
Thinking that we know someone just because they – for example, follow us on Twitter is just ridiculous to me.
So all I want to say is:
think before you speak, because nothing is as it seems.
I love this post!
