"New year new me”, or at least that's what everyone says. Yet I swear every time I try it’s always the same: I write down a couple of New Year’s Resolutions and never actually stick to them. I know that breaking bad habits is not easy, but what is it that needs to change in order for us to improve in the new year?
1. Cooking
Taking care of yourself is the first step for a new and happier "you" and ordering take-aways or eating junk food will not help you at all. Ever heard of Jamie Oliver? Just grab one of his books and you're good to go.
2. Exercise
Have you heard that, according to scientists, exercise helps improving your concentration and happiness levels? Why are you not working out right now? I know the sofa is comfy, but priorities. Am I right?
3. Reading
There is nothing more relaxing than laying on the sofa with a glass of wine – and your cat on the other side, whilst reading a nice book. Plus, who doesn't want to leave their reality and pretend they're the main character in a novel? Just me? Oh.
4. Bucket List
Every year I promise myself I am going to tick at least one thing off from my bucket list, yet every year I completely forget I have one. Saying yes to more (and new) things is a great way to improve yourself.
5. Procrastination
As much as everyone loves relaxing, too much of it will stop you from achieving your goals. So, as one of my favourite bands would say, “Snap out of it!”
6. Sleep
Last but not least, what needs improvement in the 21st century is definitively our sleeping habits. Smartphones, TVs, tablets, books, all of these gadgets make us loose track of time and prevent ourselves from sleeping well. Sleep and health are more important than 140 characters published on a social media or a new photo on Instagram.
