The One Where Alice Doesn't Want To Turn 21

As the last day of me being 20 approaches, I thought I'd do a recap of all the things I've accomplished throughout the first year in my 20s.

First of all, can I just say how scarily quick time has flown by? Like, I'm gonna be 21 years old in a day's time. A day. Not only that, but tomorrow is also my last first Monday of my first year at Uni.
This is such an overwhelming feeling and I am truly struggling to wrap my head around it.

But hey, let's think positive. Let's think about what lil old me has accomplished in just 365 days.

  1. Accepted my University offer;
  2.  proudly worked in London for a year, managing to provide for myself;
  3. realised who has my best interest at heart and who, on the other hand, was purely a toxic influence;
  4. moved from London to Portsmouth all by myself;
  5. started University;
  6. met new people;
  7. joined a society;
  8. became Deputy Features Editor;
  9. wrote a lot (and when I say a lot I mean a lot a lot!);
  10. learned Shorthand – I don't know about you but I can write 60wpm (yes, I am indeed bragging);
  11. found a new job;
  12. quit my job after realising that, if people don't treat you properly, then why would you want to stay and be disrespected, abused and feeling on the edge every single day;
  13. learned that sometimes you just need to open up to people in order for them to understand what you're going through;
  14. found out that is always worth being kind and that we can't control feelings;
  15. realised that I haven't yet mastered in the art of adulthood because it's too difficult.
I also realised that I am probably not ready to turn 21 (and that, unfortunately, I need a hair cut). But life isn't always about what we want or don't want. So I am positive(ish) that this year is going to be even better and that I will hopefully accomplish more.

Here's to my 21st year on this planet, may it be even better than my previous one.

P.S. In case you were wondering, this is only a follow up from last year's The One Where Alice Doesn't Want To Turn 20 and The One Where Alice Turns 20 posts. Needles to say, this has now become a tradition.
